The Union Government has summoned a meeting, inviting all the parties of India. The Center has decided to conduct the meeting in the Main Committee room, at 11am on Thursday. The topic of discussion will be- Afghanistan’s, current scenario.
Minister of External Affairs Jaishankar will illuminate the caucus leaders about the Afghanistan crisis. Both the Leaders Of Opposition of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha , Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Mallikarjun Kharge, respectively, will attend the assembly as well.
STEPS TAKEN BY THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT WITH RESPECT TO THE CRISIS:
- The Indian government is evacuating its citizens from Afghanistan. The Taliban captured the country on August 15, after innumerable atrocities.
- India, on August 17, declared that it would issue an emergency e-visa to the people of Afghan origin. This was done to facilitate their migration to India.
- India has rescued and evacuated 626 people, out of which 228 are Indian Citizens.
“626 people including 228 Indian citizens have been evacuated from Afghanistan till now. The number of Afghan Sikhs who have been evacuated is 77,” Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri informed.
