In October, the majority of the holidays come under the ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’; October one comes under ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts’.
RBI issued mandatory leaves for the banks for October month. Total 21 bank holidays that will happen next month. However, these are splitted into state-wise celebrations.
Amidst 21 holidays, only 14 of them are RBI issued bank leaves. Extra seven days are weekend leaves, which encompass Sundays, as well as the second and fourth Saturday of the month.
The RBI’s list of holidays falls into the official classifications of state-wise celebrations, religious holidays and festival celebrations.
The list of RBI mandated holidays are classified under the categories of ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’, ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday’ and ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts’.
In October, however, the majority of the holidays follow the ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’ classification. October 1, the very first holiday on the list, comes under the ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts’ classification. This holiday is for the banks located in Gangtok.
The first holiday follows under the ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’ which is on October 2, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. The other big holidays are during the Durga Puja/Dasara/Dussehra (Vijaya Dashmi), on October 15. All Banks will administer this holiday across India, however, except those located in the geographical location of Imphal and Shimla.
