Taliban claims it dominates Afghanistan after the battle at Panjshir Valley. The claim has been contested by the Afghan National Resistance Front, headed by former vice president Amrullah Saleh and Ahmad Massoud. Ahmad Massoud is the son of Ex-Afghan guerrilla commander Ahmad Shah Massoud — which had their base there.
The ISI chief in Kabul is responsible for the delay government formation.
PM Modi has formed a high-level group considering the developing situation in Afghanistan. The group comprises foreign minister S Jaishankar, Mr Doval and other senior dignitaries.
The group has been administering the ground situation in Afghanistan and the international reactions to it.
Evacuations from Afghanistan, where thousands were desperate to skip Taliban rule, completed on August 31.
