Parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi on Friday said the Opposition was making “questions out of a non-issue” and has not permitted Parliament to act amid protests for a discussion in the House on the Pegasus spyware matter.
“…IT (information technology) minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given a report (on the issue) in both Houses,” he said in Lok Sabha. He added the government is prepared for discussion on other crucial issues related to the public. “Bills are also a significant issue. The government also does not wish them to be passed without a discussion…” He added many of these problems are directly related to the poor. “Let them raise the issues and recommend… but unfortunately, they are not permitting Parliament to act.”
TMC leader Derek O’Brien slammed the government and accused PM Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah for confusing the Parliament. In a tweet, he said the government was escaping from the discussion.
