Pegasus : Delhi National Assembly wants investigation

On Tuesday, the leaders of the Delhi Parliament and workers held a protest near the BJP headquarters, demanding judicial investigations into reports of Pegasus spyware targeting journalists and politicians. Protesters led by Delhi National Assembly Chairman Anil Kumar carried slogans and banners from their party office in DDU Marg to the nearby BJP headquarters. They were detained by the police at the roadblock.

When speaking to the protesters, Kumar claimed that the government had played a role in the Pegasus spy line and called it a threat to national security. However, the central government rejected the accusations of any form of surveillance of specific groups of people, saying that it “has no specific basis or related truth.” The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) also protested the spying behavior. Seeking a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Srinivas said: “What crimes and terrorist activities are you fighting against by monitoring Rahul Gandhi’s phone? He asked the junior committee to investigate the espionage case as soon as possible and conduct it under the supervision of the Supreme Court. The statement stated that dozens of youth congress workers were detained by the police during the protest and then taken to the Mandir Marg police station.
