The SC Friday nullified the Calcutta HC June 9 decree repudiating to take reply-affidavits of West Bengal. Its CM Mamata Banerjee and state Law Minister Moloy Ghatak on the CBI’s transfer applications regarding the Narada scam case. A bench of Justices Vineet Saran and Dinesh Maheshwari requested the 5-judge bench of the High Court, led by Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, to determine afresh the supplications of Banerjee, Ghatak and the state government before choosing on the CBI appeal seeking transfer of the scam case to the high court itself.
The SC was hearing three supplications including the state government protesting the HC’s refute for filing of affidavits. By Banerjee and Ghatak on detention of four TMC leaders on May 17 by CBI in the Narada scam case. It has claimed that the state ruling party leaders played a major role in obstructing the CBI. From conducting its legitimate duty after the capture of four leaders in the case.
Ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim, Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra and previous mayor of Kolkata Sovan Chatterjee were caught by the CBI which is probing the Narada sting tape case on a 2017 decree of the high court.
