Mizoram Sports minister Robert Romawia Royte has declared a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh to a living parent with the highest number of kids in his constituency to inspire population growth among the Mizo communities. Royte, anyhow, did not mention the number of children.
On the event of Father’s Day on Sunday, Royte asserted that he would reward a man or woman having the maximum number of children within his Aizawl East-2 assembly constituency with a cash reward of Rs,1 lakh. The person will also get a certificate and a trophy, the minister asserted in a statement.
Royte stated that the infertility rate and the decreasing growth rate of the Mizo populace has become a serious matter.
“Mizoram is inferior the optimum number of people to attain evolution in different fields because of the gradual decline in its populace. The low population is a serious concern and obstacles for small communities or tribes like Mizos to survive and progress,” Royte stated, according to news agency PTI.
He further stated that some churches and influential civil society establishments like the Young Mizo Association are encouraging a baby boom policy to inspire population growth.
This announcement came at a time when different states are inspiring a population control policy.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has recently declared that his authority will gradually execute a two-child policy for availing benefits under certain policies financed by the state.
