The Indian Table Tennis Federation decided on Wednesday to issue a performance motivation notice to the paddler star Manika Batra’s refusal to accept the help of national coach Soumyadeep Roy at the Tokyo Olympics. Although Manika’s coach Sanmay Paranjape was able to attend training courses in Tokyo, he did not have permission to enter the playing field and was denied a request to update his access card.
In a protest demonstration, Manica rejected the help of the designated team coach Roy in a singles match. He reached the top 32 and made history.
“Before boarding the flight to Tokyo, he knew very well that his personal trainer could not enter the playing field. Therefore, she should not be like that (refusing the help of the national coach). “We will issue a notice tomorrow and Manika will have 10 days to respond. On this basis, we will decide what further actions we will take,” TTFI general secretary Arun Banerjee told us.
