KC Veeramani’s properties raided by DVAC wing. The DVAC (Directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption) wing raids at the properties of ex AIADMK minister KC Veeramani on Thursday. The DVAC seized crores worth of assets that consist a range of luxury cars and miscellany jewelry.
100 officials raided the hometown of KC Veeramani. The raids also extended to Thirupatur, Chennai, Vellore, Ranipet, Thiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri. The raids included a few locations in Karnataka. Total they have raided 30 locations.
KC Veeramani was serving the commercial tax and registration department from 2016-2021. The anti-corruption wing lodged an FIR against him on Wednesday under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The FIR copy mentions that he acquired wealth 654% extra than his actual source of income between 2016 and 2021.
It’s also stated that he possessed wealth to the tune of Rs 28.78 crore disproportionate to his income. He also purportedly amassed wealth in his mother’s name who is 80 years old.
The DVAC seized nine luxury cars, including a Rolls Royce, 5 kg gold, Rs 34 lakh unaccounted cash, 7.2 kg of silver, 47 grams of diamonds. In addition to it, DVAC confiscated bank passbooks and property documents in 30 different locations.
The agitated AIADMK cadres gathered outside the residence of Veeramani and raised slogans against the DMK, holding black flags. Ex-minister and senior leader of AIADMK Jayakumar cried political vendetta.
The DMK government has commanded the raids in the wake of local body elections and to immobilize the leaders and the party. As A result, defaming the party’s name that will affect the election results.
