Harish Bangera, aged thirty four years , an air-conditioning technician rejoined with his family on Wednesday after spending quantifiable 600 days in a jail in Saudi Arabia for an impious Facebook post he didn’t make.
Harish was detained on December 22, 2019, for making irreligious remarks about Mecca and using uncivil language about the King of Saudi Arabia on Facebook.
Thus, the Karnataka cops who adopted the investigation of the case found that the disrespectful remarks were posted by two persons in the Udupi district by forming a fake Facebook Id in the name of the accused.
The police seized the accused persons, Abdul Huyez and Abdul Thuyez in October 2020. The family of Bangera submitted the probe reports to the Saudi authorities and finally arranged to get him released from Saudi prison.
Bangera turned at Kempegowda International Airport on Wednesday and said, he greeted the Karnataka police for finding the real criminals. He further thanked everyone who supported his family to get him released. Though the submissions were made, the courts in Saudi weren’t functioning due to Covid-19. “Otherwise, I could have been released much earlier,” he said.
Bangera was embraced by his wife Sumana, daughter Hansika and friends.
