Italy becomes the latest country to recognize Serum Institute of India’s Covishield vaccine. The European nation will now allow fully vaccinated Indians.
The Indian embassy in Rome announced the decision of the Italian government on Twitter yesterday. The Indian Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya and his Italian counterpart came to this conclusion after G-20 health minister’s meet.
The following countries allow Indian tourists apart from Italy: United States of America, Canada, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Spain, and Maldives.
The United Kingdoms however, has angered Indian tourists as the country has made some amends in their rules. Vaccinated Indians have classified these changes as discriminatory towards them.
UK’s decision to do away with traffic light system:
The United Kingdoms has decided to dispose off their “Traffic Light System” with effect from October 4. Once the traffic light system goes, quarantine would be necessary for even those who have been fully vaccinated with vaccines that are not on the authorized list. The UK administration still does not recognize Covishield or Covaxin as a legitimate vaccine. Therefore, the Indian tourists are calling the latest amends discriminatory towards vaccinated Indians. Currently, India is in the amber list of the traffic light system.
Covishield and Covaxin production boost:
The production of Covishiled and Covaxin will get a boost by the end of the year. Covishiled’s monthly production will increase to 120 million by December 2021. Covaxin on the other hand, will get a boost of 58 million by December.
