Haryana, Karnal: The Home Department has decided to extend the ban on mobile internet services in Karnal till Thursday midnight. Reason being, the ongoing Farmer’s protest in the region. The ban on mobile internet in Karnal was implemented on September 6th, owing to the law and order situation.
The Parliament of India passed three farm laws on September 2020. Since then, the Central Government and farmers have been in a state of conflict. Farmers and their representatives from all over the nation have spoken, and protested against the three new laws. They have made it clear that they will continue the resistance until their demands are met.
Multiple rounds of talks and discussions between the representatives of farmers and prominent government officials have taken place, but the deadlock between both the parties remains intact. Furthermore, due to the ongoing farmer’s protest, the interconnected industries are suffering a daily loss of ₹3500 crores. Supply of vegetables and other essential commodities has also reduced considerably.
Coming back to Karnal:
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha in alliance with several other farmers have been gathering outside the mini-secretariat in Karnal for the past few days. They are demanding legal actions against IAS Ayush Sinha and his suspension from the post. Sinha allegedly ordered the police to “smash the heads” of those protesting.
Sinha was transferred after the incidence. He is now working as the Additional Secretary in the Citizen Resource Information Department
Farmer’s protest has had adverse effects on the economy, peace, and solidarity of our country. Statements made by leaders of the SKM or Farmer’s Union suggest that the protests will continue until the laws remain. As of now, both the parties involved in the conflict have failed to come to a mutual agreement.
