New Delhi: Due to COVID19, the railway sector has lost almost 2,903 employees, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw briefed Parliament on Friday. In Rajya Sabha’s written response, he stated that he had settled the dues with the family of the deceased railway employees in 2,782 cases
“The Indian Railways has the policy to provide compassionate jobs to families of railway service personnel who have departed or died in a harness or on a medically incapacitated mission.
Vaishnaw said: “The families of relatives of railway employees who have lost their lives due to COVID19 are secured by the compassionate ground appointment policy.” He said that out of a total of 2,903 COVID19 demises, received sympathy appointments, of which 1,732 were accepted. After making a sympathy appointment, he added that 8,63,868 railway employees received the first dose of vaccine and 2.34,184 received the second dose of vaccine.
“A sufficient number of immunization centers have been instituted and personnel has been employed to vaccinate the railways.
“Every effort is being made to immunize all railway employees as early as possible, as long as the vaccine dose and employees are willing to get vaccinated,” Vaishnaw said.
