Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) minister, Shyamaprasad Mukherjee is the former MLA from the Bishnupur assembly constituency in the first TMC government. Later he served as the chairman in Bishnupur municipality where he was charged with financial irregularities of 9.11 crores.
He was arrested by the Bankura district police on Saturday night at an anomaly fair over municipal tenders after a long interrogation. He denied through the whole interrogation said by Bankura superintendent of police Dhirtiman Sarkar.
The court declared to keep him in police custody for four-five days. He lost the polls in 2016 and later joined the BJP in Dec 2020 when Suvendu Adhikari left the ruling party. While Samik Bhattacharya, Bengal BJP’s chief spokesperson said that their party is not involved in it as he was alleged of this crime when he did not join BJP.
