New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday (July 3, 2021) performed searches across six places in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in association with a forced religious transformation.
The places raided included the office of Islamic Dawah Centre (IDC), the house of the main victim Mohd Umar Gautam and his aide Mufti Qazi Jahangir Qasmi, all spotted at Jamia Nagar in the national capital.
In UP, the ED invaded offices of Al Hassan Education and Welfare Foundation and Guidance Education and Welfare Society situated at Lucknow. These offices, notably, are run by Umar Gautam.
“These have been playing an active role in performing illegal conversions,” the ED said in a statement.
“Several criminating documents have been confiscated during raids which reveal the large-scale transformation executed by accused Umar Gautam and his company all over India,” the ED added.
The law enforcement agency mentioned that the documents also disclose several crores of foreign funding benefitted by the defamed company for the purpose of illegal transformation.
This is to be noted that Umar Gautam and Jahangir have supposedly forced around 1,000 non-Muslims to transform to Islam.
