“COVIHOME” , Professor IIT Creates COVID19 Kit

Posted on July 15, 2021September 20, 2021 By Subrata Paul

COVIHOME, A professor from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has developed a COVID19 test suite powered by artificial intelligence called “COVIHOME”.

IIT claims that the test kit can help users to test for COVID19 at home without expert supervision.

Further, the Test Kit can produce results for symptomatic and asymptomatic patients in 30 minutes.

IIT explained that it does not require RTPCR or BSL 2 laboratory facilities to extract RNA.

The COVIHOME is used as a home test kit.

As a result, the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad developed the test suite.

The achievement of the research team developing the COVIHOME test suite is to break the transmission chain through affordable testing.

Consequently, we trialed a patent for this device and looking for industrial partners with ToT technology for mass production.

The Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research authorised the RNA electronic kit.

Which is used to detect the SARSCov2 virus in swab samples based on internal samples and hospital samples. ICMR.

The verification report confirmed that the efficiency of the kit was 94.2%, the sensitivity was 91.3%, and the specificity was 98.2%. The cost of each test is about 400 rupees. Mass production of test kits will help reduce costs to around Rs. 300 times per test.
