With 19,406 new coronavirus diseases being detailed in a day. India’s tally of Covid-19 cases soared to 4,41,26,994. While active cases dropped to 1,34,793, according to the Union Health Ministry report updated on Saturday.
The casualty toll has lumped to 5,26,649 with 49 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The active cases constitutes 0.31 percent of the total contamination. While the national Covid-19 recuperation rate was logged at 98.50 percent, the ministry said.
A decline of 571 cases has been logged in the active Covid-19 caseload in 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was logged at 4.96 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 4.63 percent, it said.
The number of recuperation rose to 4,34,65,552, while the case fatality rate 1.19 percent.
About 49 new fatalities, five each were detailed from Maharashtra and West Bengal. Three from Chhattisgarh, two each from Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Tripura. And one each from Haryana, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
Further, 11 deaths have been reconciled by Kerala as per Indian Council of Medical Research guidelines.
About 5,26,649 fatalities detailed so far, 1,48,129 are from Maharashtra, 70,548 from Kerala, 40,155 from Karnataka. 38,033 from Tamil Nadu, 26,327 from Delhi, 23,574 from Uttar Pradesh. And 21,389 from West Bengal.
The health ministry underlined that more than 70 percent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
“Our figures are reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR),” the ministry said on its website. Adding that state wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
According to the ministry, 205.92 crore doses against Covid have been regulated in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination movement.
Grim Mile stone
India’s Covid-19 tally went past the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020. 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.
It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29. 90 lakh on November 20 and exceeded the one-crore mark on December 19.
India exceeded the grim milestone of two crore cases on May 4. Three crore on June 23 last year and four crore on January 25 this year.
