India detailed 50,040 fresh cases of the coronavirus infection (Covid-19) in the past 24 hours, the Union ministry of health and family welfare reported on Sunday in its daily communique– a slight swell from its spike of 48,698 fresh cases a day ago. More than 1,258 new mortalities were also reported in the same duration, which has now enhanced the country’s casualty toll up to 395,751, the grim milestone of 400,000 in the approaching.
The number of dynamic Covid-19 cases in India has dropped to 586,403 or 1.97% of the total cases. More than 29,251,029 victims have been healed of Covid-19 till now, with 57,944 of them being released in the last 24 hours alone.
As per the health ministry, daily improvements have now pursued to exceed the daily new cases for the 45th straight day, with the nationwide improvement rate now at 96.75%. The weekly positivity rate stays beneath 5% — currently at 2.91%. The daily positivity rate, on the other hand, has also been lower than 5% for 20 days consecutively.
India has also maximized its Covid-19 testing, according to the government. “Over 40.42 crore probes have been conducted in total so far,” an official article read. Over 3.21 billion Covid-19 antibody doses — a total of 321,760,077 to be detailed– have also been monitored till now, the government said, adding that more than 6,425,893 doses were given in the last 24 hours alone.
Speculations about a possible third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic run rife as various cities, including those in Tamil Nadu and Haryana, detailed on Saturday either their first case of contamination or death from the new ‘Delta plus’ variation of the virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that individuals who are fully vaccinated will have to survive wearing masks, follow social distancing and other safety steps to curb the spread of the more lethal and contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus, which is spreading rapidly across the planet.
