
New Delhi: The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Sunday stated that it has caught 10 persons, including two physicians, who were part of an inter-state racket supposedly indulging in black marketing of dummy injections used for the treatment of the black fungus virus.
Per the police, data was received regarding a person named Mayank Taluja executing the black marketing of Liposomal Amphotericin-B injections used for treatment of Black Fungus, at expensive prices.
Following this, a police squad, composed of officers of the Drug Controller, was positioned and a trap was designed near Jamia Metro station where a runner named Waseem Khan was initially arrested. During cross-examination, he supposedly disclosed that he had come to deliver the said drugs on the instance of one Mayank Taluja, which was to be collected by him from Mohd. Faizal, who operates as a salesman at one Al Khidmat Medicos.
After a raid was executed at the said outlet, 10 vials of Liposomal Amphotericin-B ampules were reacquired from there and the owner and two salesmen who were engaged in the deal were captured.
Taluja, who came to collect the payment of the 10 vials were also nabbed, DCP (Crime Branch) Monica Bhardwaj stated, adding that on the investigation, the proprietor of the medical shop disclosed that one Shivam Bhatia was his source of acquiring these medicines who further said he received it from one Sonu at Nizamuddin following which he used to provide the above vials to the needy customers at excessive prices through his sources.
