Captain Amarinder Singh resigned form the CM post on 18th September. He announced his decision in a press conference on Saturday (4:30 PM). “I was humiliated three times by Congress leadership in the past two months,” he said while addressing the press. “If there are any doubts about my capabilities, I feel humiliated,” he added.
The alleged objections that some Congress MLA’s evoked against his capabilities as Punjab’s CM stimulated Singh’s decision. His colleagues deemed Singh unfit to continue as the states CM. According to the complainants, Amarinder Singh was unapproachable as he seldom visited Punjab Civil Secretariat. He moved his residence to a farmhouse located in the outskirts of the city, which made him even more inaccessible. Furthermore, Singh’s declining popularity amongst the masses of Punjab worried Congress about his prospects of winning the 2022 assembly elections.
BJP’s sudden regard for Capt. Amarinder Singh:
The BJP has developed a new found respect for Amarinder Singh days after his resignation from the CM post. The BJP leadership has termed his exit as a “political murder” of a “nationalist” leader who became a hurdle in Congress’s “game plan”. BJP’s newfound love for the Captain is also a premium display of the mutual hatred and disregard between the parties.
BJP and Congress are the two most popular national parties of India. The leaders of both the parties never back down from dissing their counterparts in the other. Moreover, both Congress and BJP have had numerous chances of chastising some catastrophic decisions or remarks made by the members of the rival party.
