New Delhi: As many as 12 members of a family evidently drowned while bathing in Ayodhya’s Saryu river at Guptar Ghat on Friday, July 9. The local authority said that the people skid into deep water and were swept by the strong river currents. As per the police, divers are at the site executing rescue work.
A search and rescue operation is proceeding and it is affirmed to have saved six of the family members, rescued corpses of another six and are searching for three others who have gone mislaid.
Fifteen members of the family from Agra were touring Ayodhya Dham, tragedy attacked when they were taking a dip in the Saryu river at Guptar Ghat and 12 personalities including women and children drowned in the river.
The disaster occurred when the family was taking a bath at the extreme end of Guptar Ghat. After sliding, 12 people went into the depths of Saryu.
CM Yogi Adityanath has directed senior officials to visit the spot and rescue the people immediately after receiving information about the event. There is a huge police crowded at Guptar Ghat and the NDRF team can also be called if necessary.
