Kolkata: State Health department will recently begin universal immunization among the age range bracket 18-45 in all the government-run Covid vaccination centers (CVC) as complimentary after it receives a sufficient stock from the Centre. The department sets a goal of injecting around 5 lakh individuals on a regular basis. Anybody above the age of 18 who will appear at the center will get a jab for free.
Director of Health Services, Dr Ajay Chakraborty mentioned that according to the stock currently feasible with the state government they can inoculate around 3 lakh individuals per day. But the department is eager on vaccinating at least 5 lakh people recently.
It would be performed very quickly after stock of doses is further developed. If over 5 lakh individuals can be inoculated each day, it would assist to secure people ahead of a potential third wave. Till now, the state government was mostly performing inoculations among the target age.
The state has yet to inoculate 1,90,10,700 individuals out of which around 67,350 individuals were inoculated in the past 24 hours. No adverse effects following immunization (AEFI) were detailed on Friday. The Bengal management has already performed vaccinations on 21,42,859 individuals as yet in the state which comprises those belonging in the age range 18-45 years and also those who have been analyzed as super-spreaders by the state government.
Meantime, single day Covid contamination in Bengal diminished to 2,184 on Sunday from what remained at 2,486 on Saturday. The cumulative number of contaminated cases has therefore soared to 14,81,707 Covid cases till Sunday. Nearly 2,128 Covid sufferers have been discharged from different hospitals in the past 24 hours taking the total number of victims being discharged from hospitals to 14,41,343 hitherto till Sunday.
Number of casualties declined to 53 on Sunday from 55 on Saturday. The total tally of mortalities in the state attained 17,348. The number of active cases stayed at 23,016 on Sunday. Covid improvement rate climbed 97.28 per cent. The percentage of positive cases out of the units examined remained at 4.12 on Sunday. The percentage of occupancy of Covid beds in the State reached 11.13. Bengal has so far performed 1,36,84,862 Covid sample trials so far with nearly 52,997 units being tested in the past 24 hours.
Kolkata has logged 7 Covid demises on Sunday while North 24-Parganas has seen 9 Covid demises. South 24-Parganas has detailed 7 deaths, Howrah 3, Hooghly 7, East Midnapore 1, West Midnapore 4, Bankura 3, Nadia 7, Murshidabad 1, Jalpaiguri 1 and Darjeeling 3. Kolkata in the past 24 hours has enlisted 185 fresh cases and North 24-Parganas 332.
The total casualty toll in Kolkata has till now reached 4,839 whereas North 24-Parganas has lost 4,384 individuals so far.
