Dharmasastha Sabrimala (Kerala) [India], September 17
Devotees gathered at Dharmasastha Temple of Sabrimala to Lord Ayyappa for the month of ‘Kanni’. Devaswam board informed this. The temple will allow Devotees till 21st September. The corona vaccine certificate is mandatory for the devotees visiting the temple. Also, worshippers followed covid protocols inside the premises. The Temple allowed Only 15,000 people in a day.
Devotees registered themsleves online. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that a COVID-19 negative certificate was mandatory. The person must test himself within 48 hours before entry.
Authorities closed the temple doors of the Sabarimala for 7 months before reopening. Higher officials threw open the doors for devotees from October 16, 2020, albeit with certain restrictions.
Earlier, on Thursday, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that almost 68 per cent of the total COVID-19 cases reported in India are from Kerala. Kerala has over 1.99 lakh active cases.
Sabarimala is one of the most famous pilgrim centres in India. King Rajashekhara built it on the mountain ranges of the Western Ghats. It is 72 km from Pathanamthitta town in Kerala. Sree Ayyappa is the primary diety here. Pilgrim season is from November to mid- January. Mandala pooja and Makaravilakku are the two main events of the pilgrim season. The temple stays closed during the rest of the year except for the first five days of every Malayalam
