Varca (Goa) [India], September 19 :
Goa police on Saturday conducted a raid on an illegal casino in Varca. Police arrested 15 persons allegedly involved in gambling activities.
Gambling involves people betting or staking of something of value, with conscious risk and hope of gain, on the outcome of a game, a contest, or an uncertain event . Players might determined the result by chance or accident or have an unexpected result by reason of the bettor’s miscalculation.
Police issued a press statement. It said that a joint operation was led by the teams of Colva and Margao town police,Goa . This was to conduct a raid at the hotel. The fifteen criminals gambled illegally. Meanwhile they were playing with the help of chips of different colours having a value of Rs. 6,90,000 . Also they were playing cards . Police registered a case and the 15 accused persons have been arrested.The accused are from Gujarat and Goa.Further investigation is underway
In a bid to revive the tourism sector in Goa, the state task force has recommended the government to reopen all tourism activities from September 20, Monday. Governmet made Casinos, spas and nightclubs functional from Monday with 50 per cent capacity. People must be fully vaccinated or produce a Covid negative test report.
