Mohar Kunj, Kolkata: On February 20, Folk Safar brought out the artisans from all walks of life to gather together to showcase their talent through their work.
From Gombhira masks to the sartorial work of Kenjakura handloom: the culture and the richness of the traditions all flocked at one place.
Immaculately incorporating three metals Brass, Bronze, and Copper together to make intricate Murtis that bring out the seamless gleam of every Murti, the maker of the beautiful desirable Murtis, has been working since a young age and continuing the traditions of his family and has been traveling to Rajasthan, Delhi, Allahabad to sell his work.

Another talented artisan hailing from Paschim Medinipur to Folk Safar, Nishikant Das creates bags, mats, dining table mats, and more from the natural fiber called Madur Kathi.
He cultivates the Madur Kathi and processes them to make bags, floor mats, dining table mats.

Delving into the fair, the traditional folk dance Gombhira inspired a historic mask that crafts out remarkable facial features that forge out as Gombhira masks.


The artisan representing the artwork has been carrying the essence of the art form for six years and conveying the rich tradition of south Dinajpur everywhere.
Heading into another stall, a narrative of an old folktale inscribed in the strings of clothes with hues of beautiful colors describes a Patachitra.
The maker of the patachitra brought out stories into clothes and continued the dream of his father and his and consequently, keeping alive the culture.


Kenjakura Handloom,
hailing from the district Kenjakura Bankura; the artisan makes towels shawls, dupatta, and also, handkerchiefs and more the artisan has been working for 4 years, customizes this beautiful art of work into life.


The elegant work of Sitalpati was witnessed at the Folk safar, The maker of Sitalpati has been pursuing the family tradition since childhood while making the Sitalpati into various forms of all-natural beautiful bags, shoes, Jewellery boxes.

In addition, with the help of the Department of Tourism Government of West Bengal, the Folk Safar witnessed much more talented, hard-working artisans, musicians coming together to make the event a joyous occasion for everyone.
