New Delhi:
Air Marshal Chaudhari joined the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 29, 1982.
Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari will take over as Chief of Air Staff . This is after the retirement of Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria on September 30.
Mr Chaudhari is currently the Vice Chief of Air Staff in the Indian Air Force.
Chaudhari came into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 29, 1982. He has held various command, staff and instructional appointments at various levels, the government said in a statement.

During his service, the government has decorated him with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal. Also he won the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Vayu Sena Medal .
Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria will retire exactly two years after his appointment to the top post on September 30, 2019.
Chaudhari has a flying experience of more than 3,800 hours. He has been an expert in MiG-29 aircraft. He has also served as chief of the Western Air Command.He was the chief of the Western Air Command from August 1, 2020.He was commissioned into Fighter Stream of the IAF on December 29, 1982, as a fighter pilot and has served nearly 39 years.He has flown a wide variety of fighter and trainer aircraft with a flying experience of more than 3800 hours.
Informing about the Vivek Ram Chaudhari’s appointment, Principal Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, A Bharat Bhushan Babu on his official Twitter handle today said, “Government has decided to appoint Air Marshal V R Chaudhari, PVSM, AVSM, VM presently Vice Chief of Air Staff as the next Chief of Air Staff. Current Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC retires from Service on 30th Sep 2021
