Pakistan PM Imran Khan and UN Secy-General Antonio Guterres held a telephonic discussion on Saturday about the current situation in Afghanistan.
“The PM(Imran Khan) appreciated the vital role of the UN in delivering much-needed humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people. The PM highlighted the facilitations being provided by Pak in that regard including by assisting in the evacuation and relocation efforts,” a tweet from Pak PMO read.
A major humanitarian crisis is looming over Afghanistan, as per the warnings of United Nations . Under the Taliban regime, Afghanistan’s situation has worsened. Moreover, the crumbling economy and lack of fundamental rights have made conditions even more unpleasant for the citizens.
“Now more than ever, Afghan children, women and men need support and solidarity from the international community. I will convene a high-level humanitarian conference for Afghanistan on September 13 to advocate for a swift scale-up in funding and full, unimpeded access to those in need,” wrote Guterres on Twitter.
United Kingdoms held discussions regarding the same with Tajikistan and Qatar. This suggest that countries are uniting against the oppressors of Afghanistan. This seems to be a good news for the oppressed.
The constantly deteriorating conditions in Afghanistan have been a matter of concern for the UN. The UN Secy-Gen’s worries reflected in his statement about the economic and humanitarian crisis in the country. He also was concerned about the total collapse of the country in all aspects.
