The European Union staves in Kabul operating to evacuate people as the end of airlifts approaches. Some European nations are endeavoring to complete their evacuation before the August 31 deadline for the US retract from Afghanistan.
According to Peter Stano (European Commission foreign affairs spokesman), a small EU team will be on the ground until the evacuation operation is completed. The operation is considered exercised in an hostile environment.
As per information, over 400 Afghans who worked for the EU in Afghanistan, have been evacuated along with families. Some people are still to be evacuated from the hostile situation.
Eric Mamer (Commission spokesman) believes that the 400 Afghan EU workers and their families will be transferred to member states who offered places. In this relocation process, members of the 27-nation bloc are willing to help accommodate the EU’s Afghan staff.
