A few territories of the Panjshir valley have fallen under the control of Taliban as major commanders of the Afghani resistance force are killed. Amrullah Saleh, the former VP of Afghanistan and President of the resistance force survived the attack and has moved to an undisclosed location.
Taliban assumed power over the capital city of Kabul on August 15, 2021. They hardly met any resistance from the military. Even former President Ashraf Ghani fled the country a few hours before the capture.
Fahim Dashti, Gul Haider Khan, Munib Amiri and several others of the top tier commanders of Resistance force died in the battle. Fahim Dashti was a spokesperson of the Resistance force and a member of the Federation of Afghan Journalists.
Taliban’s take over of the Panjshir valley was preceded by ruthless gun fights. Taliban’s helicopters bombarded the shelter of Amrullah Saleh. Luckily, the President of the Resistance force survived the attack and has been moved to a safe, unknown location. Both the sides have sustained many causalities. As of now, several parts of the Panjshir valley are under Taliban’s control.
