New Zealand: Protests go on for the fourth day

Posted on February 11, 2022February 11, 2022 By Taniya Pan

As the voices of the protests increases in New Zealand ,several  protesters gathered  outside  New Zealand’s parliament on Friday,  despite police arrests,  as protestors demanding  an end to a vaccine

mandate and severe Covid-19  regulations  continued their mass  protests.

Numerous demonstrators invaded the parliament lawns in Wellington’s  capital Wellington  four days ago,

influenced by trucker rallies in Canada, and also, blocked neighbouring  streets with  their  vehicles.

Although the demonstration is still nonviolent, but dissatisfaction is  growing  in Wellington,

with homeowners tired of the traffic  congestion  and, local  businesses  moaning  about revenue losses as consumers  refrain.

The cops arrested 120 individuals on Thursday while attempting to  forcibly remove  the  demonstrators,

but observing that they were retreating  later in the day  after  the campers declined  to go.There were no notable incidents for

the night at the parliament premises, according  to officers.

“Police continue to take a measured approach to the protesters, who are trespassing on the grounds of Parliament and have been repeatedly asked to leave,” Superintendent Corrie Parnell said in the statement.

According to the police, there are a variety of  causes and objectives  among the demonstrators, making it difficult to

establish clear and  effective lines of  communication.  As the problems increases misleading  information, on social media spreads on top which  has also been noticeable problem.

As gathering of more demonstrators increases  from throughout the  nation on  Friday, mounting of tents and gazebos noticed on the lawn.

Unlike the enraged demonstrations on  Thursday, however, the throng  was pleasant with people singing songs and dancing.

In a show of solidarity, a small group of demonstrators gathered in  nearby places such  as  Nelson and Christchurch.

Ignoring the call to move forward Prime  Minister Jacinda  Ardern’s the protesters continued.
