New Delhi: The Dominican court approved bail to the outlaw on Monday (July 12) and allowed him to return to Antigua for medications, which greatly relieved Mehul Choksi. However, people familiar with the matter said that Choksi will have to return to Dominica, where he faces allegations of illegal entry, as long as he is fit to travel. The court has asked Choksi to pay 10,000 East Caribbean dollars as security for the bonds.
“The Court of Dominica finally upheld the rule of law and the rights of people receiving treatment at the medical institution of its choice. All endeavors by various institutions have failed. It is gratifying that all the smart foxes have finally become coats of skin”. Choksi’s lawyer, Vijay Aggarwal said.
According to sources here, India has turned to the Dominican High Court for support in a case brought by the escapee businessman Mehul Choksi’s lawyer, whose bail was declined by the High Court after a five-hour hearing.
