Canada permits fully vaccinated travelers in early September. The Prime Minister of Canada said on Thursday (July 15, 2021) that if current trends in vaccination rates and public health conditions continue, Canada may allow fully vaccinated travelers to enter in early September.
Justin Trudeau made the above remarks in a phone call with Canadian provincial leaders, according to the call log issued by his office.
Trudeau also said talks are underway with the United States to begin allowing vaccinated US citizens and permanent residents to enter Canada for non-essential travel before mid-August.
“The Prime Minister stated that if our current vaccination rates and public health conditions continue to maintain positive trends, Canada will be able to receive fully vaccinated travelers from all countries in early September,” according to a statement.
Health officials recently stated that approximately 78% of Canadians 12 years of age and older had at least one dose of the COVID19 vaccine. Approximately 44% of people 12 years of age and older are fully vaccinated.
Earlier on Thursday, Canada stated that it would allow large cruise ships to visit again after the COVID19 pandemic starting in November, but they must fully comply with public health requirements.
