Air India’s special ferry flight from India to Ukraine departed this morning, bringing back Indian nationals.
Deploying the Dreamliner B-787 aircraft, which has a capacity of over 200 seats, for the special operation. Tonight, a special flight from Ukraine will arrive in Delhi.
Scheduling Air India’s other two flights for February 24 and 26. Flights will depart from Boryspil International Airport, with reservations available
through Air India’s booking offices, internet, contact centre, and authorised travel brokers.
As tensions between NATO countries and Russia over the Ukraine situation grew,
the Indian embassy in Kyiv issued a new advice, asking all Indian students to temporarily leave the country.
The embassy, said : “In view of the continued high levels of tensions and uncertainties with respect to the situation in Ukraine,
all Indian nationals whose stay is not deemed essential and all Indian students are advised to leave Ukraine temporarily,” .
Also for students the embassy, said : “Indian students are advised to also get in touch with respective student contractors for updates on charter
flights, and also continue to follow Embassy Facebook, website and Twitter for any update,”
Furthermore,
at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) urgent conference on Tuesday, India expressed “grave worry” about the escalation of tensions near the Russia-Ukraine border.
India urged the UN Security Council, is to de-escalate tensions while factoring other nations’ “legitimate” security concerns.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on Monday recognising the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics of Ukraine as independent,
heightening regional tensions and fueling fears of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Putin also dispatched forces to eastern Ukraine for a “peacekeeping” mission, according to the Kremlin.
India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador T S Tirumurti, said at a UN Security Council urgent meeting on Monday night,
“We have been closely following the evolving developments relating to Ukraine, including developments along Ukraine’s eastern border and the related announcement by the Russian Federation.”
