Kerala’s Health Minister Veena George stated on Sunday that a 12-year-old boy in Kerala died of Nipah virus infection.
The health minister has left for Kozhikode to take control of the crisis.
The 12-year-old was admitted to a hospital in Kerala’s Kozhikode with symptoms same as the Nipah virus infection. He died on Sunday (September 5, 2021) morning after undergoing treatment procedures at a private nursing home.
The Government of India has confirmed that a case of Nipah virus has been found in the Kozhikode district of Kerala. The Central Government has sent a team of National Centre for Disease Control members to the State to provide assistance
Some immediate measures have been directed by the Centre which include things like
•active case search in the family,
families, village, especially in Malappuram.
The health department revealed that the state government is speculated to hold a high-level meeting of health officials about the suspected Nipah infection
.
The samples taken from the boy, were sent to the Pune National Institute of Virology, confirmed that he was ill with Nipah virus.
