Heavy rainfall in J&K brought life to a halt on Wednesday. As it caused flash floods and landslides in several regions of the union territory. Continual rains also forced the management to close schools in several districts including Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban. People removed from low-lying areas and the Jammu-Srinagar national highway remained obstructed. For the second consecutive day due to landslides and mudslides leaving hundreds of vehicles marooned.
In Kashmir, the Jhelum surpassed the danger mark at Sangam in the Anantnag province. And the water level also rose in other rivers also. A high alert issued in areas close to river Chenab and its tributaries, officials told news agency PTI.

J&K Police saved 50 passengers travelling in 10 vehicles who trapped due to snowfall and heavy rains in Kishtwar province. “Snowfall and heavy rains caused flash-floods in Sinthan top area following which 50 passengers, counting some women and children marooned. Schools in many parts of the valley shut due to the heavy rains which developed in waterlogging in low-lying areas. Many houses in the Bemina, Rambagh, and Rajbagh areas of the city damaged due to water logging.

Officials said one kutcha house in Dachhan crumbled but all its occupants were safe. “As a part of advisory considering hostile weather conditions and details submitted by tehsildars. I have instructed CEO Kishtwar to close all academies in District Kishtwar today. We will review the situation later in the day for further decision,” said District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma.
“As of now, there is no news of any damage from any part of the district,” the DDC said. The deputy commissioners of these districts issued advisories asking people to remain indoors. Considering the flood-like situation that appeared in the mountainous belts of J&K.
According to a weather office prediction, heavy rain forecasted in the Kishtwar district. Which may cause temporary disruption of air and surface traffic mainly on the national highway and hilly roads. Apart land landslides and shooting stones in tender spots of the highway.
