On February 12, nation lost Padma Bhushan recipient, former chairman of Bajaj Auto and industrialist Shri Rahul Bajaj.
statement from Bajaj Group said, “It is with deep sorrow that I inform you about the passing away of Shri Rahul Bajaj, husband of the late Rupa Bajaj and father of Rajiv/Deepa, Sanjiv/Shefali and Sunaina/Manish.
He passed away on the afternoon of 12th February, 2022 in the presence of his closest family members,”
Rahul Bajaj was suffering from pneumonia along with a heart condition. Consequently hospitalising to the Ruby Hall Clinic a month ago and sadly passed away at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Twitter ” Rahul Bajaj’s passing is a big loss to India. We have lost a visionary whose courage made us proud. My love and condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Omar Abdullah said on Twitter ” I join my father in condoling the death of #RahulBajaj ji. He will be remembered as one of India’s great industrialists who successfully navigated the reforms in the Indian economy while never afraid to speak truth to power. God speed sir. Rest in peace.”
The former chairman in 1968, became Chief Executive Officer of Bajaj Auto, and in 1972, promoting to Managing Director accordingly.
The industrialist graduated from St.Stephen’s College with an economics degree.
Also, for further studies, the magnate finished his MBA from Harvard Business School.
Whereas, from 1979 to 1980, he was the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
From 1986 to 1989, he served as Chairman of the old Indian Airlines, and
also,from 1999 to 2000, he served as President of the CII for the second time.
