THE CONFIDENTIAL MEETING IN KABUL : CIA’s chief William Burns had hosted a confidential meeting with the Taliban figurehead Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. The meeting was speculated to be held on monday. If verified, then this meeting will be of substantial value. It will be considered as a classified dialogue between the Talibans and Biden’s diplomatic ministry.
SPECULATED PURPOSE OF THE MEETING : All of this has been done in an attempt to facilitate the evacuation process of the innumerable American and other diplomats, stranded in the country.
Also, it is assumed that conversations were held about extending the dates for evacuation of the panic-stricken Americans still stuck there.
STATEMENT BY CIA’s SPOKESPERSON:
The spokesperson refused to confirm the meeting citing that it was unlawful to reveal about the director’s travels. Biden had decided that August 31 would be the deadline to finish the cumbersome evacuation process by US and UK troops, but has allowed a prolongation if required.
STATEMENT BY TALIBAN’S SPOKESPERSON:
“If the US or UK were to seek additional time to continue evacuations , the answer is no. Or there would be consequences,” Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen asserted. Thus, they are in no mood to compromise their own terms and conditions.
The situation in Afghanistan continues to grow bleak and terrifying, and each country is trying their best to evacuate it’s citizens, as soon as possible.
