CJI N V Ramana administered oath of office to nine new judges on Tuesday. The oath taking ceremony was held in the hall of the top court’s additional building complex.
The swearing-in of the nine new judges,increased the strength of the apex court by 33, including the CJI.
For the first time in the history of the Supreme Court of India, nine judges took the oath of office in one go. In another first, the venue of the ceremony is shifted to the auditorium instead of CJI’s office room. The venue has been shifted due to Covid norms.
The nine judges who have been appointed are:
Justice AS Oka,
Justice Vikram Nath,
Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Justice Hima Kohli,
Justice BV Nagarathna,
Justice CT Ravi Kumar,
Justice MM Sundersh,
Justice Bela M Trivedi and
Justice PS Narasimha.
