Assam: Nearly more than 21 lakh people were still in need of assistance as a result of the downpour on Monday, according to officials, whilst eight more individuals perished in the deadly flood that hit Assam.
Eight demises confirmed in the daytime, including five killed in the Cachar district and one killed each from Kamrup Metro, Morigaon, and Nagaon, they added, bringing the total number of fatalities related to the flood this year to 134.
A statement from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority stated that one further person had noted to be missing in the Cachar area (ASDMA).
Nevertheless, there was some progress in the flood situation, with the overall impacted population falling to 21,52 lakh in 22 districts from 22,21 lakh in 28 districts the day before.
Although Kopili at Nagaon, Barak at Cachar, and Karimganj and Kushiara in Karimganj were gushing over the threat level, the officials stated, the majority of the rivers indicated a pattern of retreat.
Silchar town is under flood for more than a week, and attempts taken to offer aid in those regions where the government has not yet arrived by using helicopters of the Indian Air Force to aerial drop packages including food, bottles of water, and other necessities.
