Australia vs Netherlands, Cricket World Cup 2023: Fantasy XI Prediction, Top Captaincy And Vice-captaincy Picks

Posted on October 24, 2023 By admin

Australia will square off against the Netherlands in Match 24 of the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2023 on October 25 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, India. The match will start at 02:00 PM IST. Australia will head into the match on the back of their 62-run win over Pakistan. The win over Babar Azam’s side was Australia’s second in four matches. Previously, the Pat Cummins-led team beat Sri Lanka after losing their first two matches to India and South Africa.

With the momentum on their side, Australia will look to extend their winning run to three matches when they face off against a struggling Dutch team. Australia are currently placed fourth in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 league standings with four points from four matches.

The Netherlands, meanwhile, lost to Sri Lanka in their previous outing. It was the Netherlands’ third loss in four matches. Earlier, they suffered back-to-back defeats against Pakistan and New Zealand. Their only win in the competition came when they upset South Africa for a 38-run victory in their third match.

The Dutch are placed seventh in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 league standings with two points from four matches.

Predicted playing XI

Australia: David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc

Netherlands: Max ODowd, Vikramjit Singh, Colin Ackermann, Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Scott Edwards (c&wk), Sybrand Engelbrecht, Roelof van der Merwe, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, Logan van Beek

Weather conditions and pitch report

The surface at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi tends to favour batters. The average score in the first innings in the last 10 matches at the venue is 258. However, the Kotla pitch tends to get slower as the game progresses bringing the spinners into play.

Setting up a target first should be the preferred option at the venue, with the team batting first winning 60 per cent of the contests. The temperature at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is expected to be 31.6C with 21% humidity. There is likely to be a cloud cover over the stadium during the match.

AUS vs NED Fantasy XI

Wicket-keepers: Scott Edwards

Batters: David Warner, Colin Ackermann, Marnus Labuschagne, Vikramjit Singh

All-rounders: Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Bas de Leede

Bowlers: Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa

The Netherlands’ Scott Edwards is the best choice for the wicket-keeper’s spot in the fantasy team. The Dutch captain has scored 124 runs in four matches at an average of 41.33 and with a strike rate of 108.77.

Among the batters, David Warner, Colin Ackermann, Marnus Labuschagne and Vikramjit Singh all have racked in runs against some quality opponents in the ongoing ODI World Cup. They have also earned good fantasy points in the last four matches.

Australia’s Mitchell Marsh and the Netherlands’ Bas de Leede are amongst the top contenders in the all-rounder’s category. Mitchell Marsh has scored 180 runs at an average of 45 and a strike rate of 100 in four matches. Bas de Leede too has been crucial with the bat and the ball for the Dutch team. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, though has not contributed much with the bat but has been pivotal as a bowler claiming three wickets in four matches so far. And with the Kotla pitch likely to assist the spinners, Glen Maxwell could be crucial for Australia with the ball.

In the bowling department, Adam Zampa is the No. 1 choice for the fantasy teams. The Australian spinner has scalped 9 wickets in four matches at an average of 24.77. On a slow-turning Kotla track, Adam Zampa will be the go-to bowler.

Australian bowling spearhead Mitchell Starc and skipper Pat Cummins have also been among the wickets in the ongoing 50-over World Cup. Pat Cummins has bagged 5 wickets while Mitchell Starc has 6 scalps to his name in four games.

Captain: Bas de Leede

The Netherlands’ all-rounder Bas de Leede is the top choice for the captaincy spot. The right-arm pacer has bagged 7 wickets in four matches as well has scored 97 runs with a top score of 57 in the ongoing campaign.

Vice-captain: Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa will be Australia’s main weapon against the Netherlands on a slow Kotla track. The leg-spinner is the top contender for the vice-captaincy spot.
