Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were among the global leaders who greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turned seventy-five on Wednesday (September 17, 2025).

Prime Minister Modi responded to Mr. Putin’s message and said, “India is ready to make all possible contributions towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.”

“Your work as head of government has earned you great respect from your compatriots and enormous prestige on the international stage. Under your guidance, India has achieved impressive results in the social, economic, scientific and technological spheres,” said Mr. Putin in his birthday wishes for PM Modi.

Mr. Modi said, “We are committed to further strengthening our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.”

Earlier, U.S. President Trump dialled PM Modi on September 16, and greeted him on turning 75. “I am also fully committed to taking the India-U.S. Comprehensive and Global Partnership to new heights. We support your initiatives towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict,” said Mr. Modi, responding to Mr. Trump’s gesture.

Italian Prime Minister Meloni conveyed her birthday wishes for Mr. Modi, saying, “With friendship and esteem, I wish him health and energy to continue leading India toward a bright future and to further strengthen the relations between our two nations.

EU President Ursula von der Leyen also called PM Modi and conveyed to him her birthday wishes. Responding to her call, Mr. Modi said, “India is ready to take the India-EU relationship to the next level. We remain committed to an early and peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.”

Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay sent Mr. Modi birthday wishes on behalf of the Government of Bhutan. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wished PM Modi on his birthday and said they are going to meet soon. “Prime Minister Modi, my good friend, I want to wish you a happy birthday. You’ve accomplished so much for India in your life and we have together accomplished a great deal in the friendship between India and Israel. I look forward to seeing you soon because we can bring our partnership and our friendship to even greater heights,” said Mr. Netanyahu in his remarks.

In his birthday greetings, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, “Australia is proud to share such a strong friendship with India and we are grateful everyday for the incredible contribution of the Indian community in Australia.”

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon also sent his birthday wishes and extended PM Modi an invite to visit his country.

Dr. Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana, sent his birthday greetings and urged him to serve the Global South. PM Modi responded to President Ali’s wishes and said, “I am touched by your warm sentiments and mutual trust between India and Guyana.”

Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica extended his birthday greetings to PM Modi and expressed appreciation for “India’s steadfast support, including life-saving assistance during the pandemic…”

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said, “As India’s longest-staying guest, I have witnessed firsthand the far-reaching development and prosperity that have taken place over the years. I congratulate you on the growing confidence and strength that have occurred in recent years.”
