First made-in-India semiconductor chip will be launched in the market by the end of this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday (August 15, 2025).

Addressing the nation on the 79th Independence Day, Mr. Modi said that six semiconductor units are already on ground and four new units have been given green signal.

The government approved a new semiconductor unit, which will be built in Uttar Pradesh’s Jewar, I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on May 14, 2025, while briefing the media on the decision taken by the Union Cabinet.

“By the end of this year, made in India, made by the people of India, made in India chips will come to the market,” Mr. Modi said.
