Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Steel and Narasapuram MP Bhupathi Raju Srinivas Varma said that everyone should fight for their country and its development, taking inspiration from the fighting spirit of revolutionary leader Alluri Sitaramaraju.

Inaugurating the statue of the freedom fighter at Rajupeta village in Vuyyuru mandal in Penamaluru constituency of Krishna district on December 8, Sunday, the Minister said efforts are being made to install Alluri Sitaramaraju’s statues in Amaravati, Vijayawada and Hyderabad, too.

“We are also trying to get a street in New Delhi named after the leader,” the Minister said while expressing happiness that the Bhogapuram airport in Vizianagaram district is named after him.

Later, Minister for Housing, Information, and Public Relations Kolusu Parthasarathy said the leader did not just participate in the freedom struggle but also strove hard to free the country from the shackles of slavery. “In a similar way, the State and the Central governments too are making all-out efforts for the welfare of the economically and socially backward communities,” he said.

Minister Kollu Ravindra, Penamaluru MLA Bode Prasad and others took part in the programme.
