Watch: Marriage season, Delhi smog drove travel demand in November: ixigo CEO

In a record for domestic air travel, airlines breached the 5-lakh mark in the total number of passengers ferried on a single day on November 17. The exact figure was 5,05,412.

The high came exactly two Sundays after Diwali. The 5.05 lakh figure was exactly 11% more than the highest single day passenger traffic recorded in 2023 in the month of April and 16% more than what was recorded in 2022 in the month of December.

To unpack what this signifies and what it says about how India is travelling, where is the demand for travel growing, and how travel-booking portals are wooing first time flyers, we are joined by the co-founder and CEO of ixigo, Aloke Bajpai.

Interview: Jagriti Chandra
