Ahead Of Budget 2026, Commercial LPG Prices Hiked By Rs 50 Effective Immediately

Posted on February 1, 2026 By admin

Ahead of today’s Union Budget, oil marketing companies (OMCs) have increased the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 49, effective February 1, dealing another cost blow to businesses in the food and hospitality sector. The hike applies to commercial cylinders widely used by hotels, restaurants, eateries, and small enterprises.

There has been no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders used by households. OMCs said the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder will continue to be sold at existing rates, offering relief to retail consumers.

Revised Prices Across Major Cities

According to data published on Indian Oil Corporation’s official website, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi now stands at Rs 1,740.50. In Mumbai, the revised price is Rs 1,692, while Kolkata has seen prices rise to Rs 1,844.50. In Chennai, the cylinder will now cost Rs 1,899.50.

The revision is part of the monthly price adjustment carried out by government-owned OMCs, which review LPG prices on the first day of every month based on global energy prices, currency movements, and domestic logistics costs.

The latest increase is expected to push up operating costs for the food services and hospitality industry, where commercial LPG remains a key input. Restaurants and hotels, especially smaller establishments, have been grappling with volatile input costs over the past year, and the fresh hike could add to pricing pressures.

Price Trend: Volatility Continues

Commercial LPG prices have seen sharp fluctuations in recent months. In January, OMCs had already raised prices by Rs 111, following reductions of Rs 5 in November and Rs 10 in December last year. Before October, prices had declined for six consecutive months, reflecting softer global energy trends.

In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder stood at Rs 1,803 in March last year, before undergoing a series of cuts and hikes through 2024 and early 2025. After falling to Rs 1,580.50 in December, prices have now risen for two consecutive months.

Despite the hike in commercial LPG, OMCs clarified that domestic LPG prices remain unchanged, with the last revision having taken place on April 8, 2025.
