CRICKET | Kohli unavailable for Delhi’s Ranji Trophy game against Saurashtra

Posted on January 18, 2025 By admin

After including Virat Kohli subject to availability in Delhi’s 22-member provisional squad on Friday for the Ranji Trophy game against Saurashtra in Rajkot, the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) officially announced an updated list on Saturday that omits the star batter.

It is understood that Kohli informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his unavailability.

With Kohli nursing a neck sprain that required him to take an injection, there were always doubts about the 36-year-old travelling to Rajkot for the fixture despite the BCCI stating in a policy document that participation in domestic cricket is mandatory for players to be eligible for selection in the national team.

Kohli hasn’t played a Ranji Trophy game for Delhi since facing Uttar Pradesh in Ghaziabad in November 2012.

On Saturday, Kohli was named in India’s ODI squad for the three-match series against England and the Champions Trophy. The home series against England begins on February 6.

Delhi’s squad: Ayush Badoni (captain), Sanat Sangwan, Arpit Rana, Yash Dhull, Rishabh Pant, Jonty Sidhu, Himmat Singh, Navdeep Saini, Money Grewal, Harsh Tyagi, Siddhant Sharma, Shivam Sharma, Pranav Rajvanshi, Vaibhav Kandpal, Mayank Gussain, Gagan Vats, Ayush Doseja, Rounak Waghela, Sumit Mathur, Rahul Gahlot, Jitesh Singh.
