“Sach Mein Garden Mein Ghumne Wale Hain”: Ravichandran Ashwin Backs Rohit Sharma’s Viral Statement

Posted on May 5, 2024 By admin

India’s Test series against England, earlier this year, will be remembered by the fans for many years to come. India won the five-match Test series with a scoreline of 4-1 against the Three Lions. Apart from the emphatic win, this series also became memorable for the witty remarks of India skipper Rohit Sharma, which entertained the fans during the matches. During one of the matches, Rohit was seen instructing his fielders and was heard on the stump-mic, saying, “”jo koi bhi garden mein goomega… (anyone who roams around as if he’s in a garden…).”

This remark by Rohit became viral and left everyone amused. Recently, Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, who was also a part of the Test series against England, opened up on Rohit’s viral statement.

“Rohit bolta hain na garden mein mat ghumna. Saahi bolta hain. Yeh log sach mein garden mein ghumne wale log hain. (Rohit said that don’t roam around in the garden, he is right. These people really walk as if they are roaming around in a garden),” said Ashwin during RR’s promotional event.

“Whenever you shine a ball, the shiny side is supposed to be kept dry. So, now, the ball is passed to Yashasvi. He will slather the ball with spit and pass it. Then he will pass the ball to Shubman Gill. That guy is playing with the ball and passing it around. I’m like – Sweat lagayega toh reverse swing kaise hoga ball (If you put sweat on the ball, then how I will bowl reverse swing). “Ha kya paaji?” – That is how he reacts,” he added.

For someone with a very sharp sense of humour, Ashwin had a hilarious take on size of boundaries this season.

“The ground in Jaipur, the boundary is huge. When I saw that, Dhruv Jurel said:”Bhaiyya this is so big” and I told him “Dhruv, atleast let it be somewhere”. Watching that, I felt at this stage of my career, I would need a bicycle to reach the (Sawai Man Singh) boundary.

“Then in the next stadium, I felt I could walk and the next I could run and then in one I felt if I spit my Chewing gum, it will cross the boundary rope for a six,” said Ashwin.

RR will now be squaring off against Delhi Capitals in their next IPL 2024 match on Tuesday at the Arun Jaitely Stadium.
