“Cheerleaders Should Start Dancing Only When…”: KKR Star’s Cheeky Remark On New ‘Trend’ Of Free-Flowing Boundaries This IPL

Amid the run-fest in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Varun Chakravarthy suggested that the cheeleaders should dance only after sixes and not on every boundaries hit by the batters. With 250+ scores breached multiple times this season, the boundary count during the matches has increased drastically in IPL 2024. As a result, the cheerleaders have been dealing with an overload of work. Considering the trend of cheerleaders dancing after every boundary, Chakravarthy made the cheeky suggestion after the match between KKR and Delhi Capitals.

“Unfortunately that has become the trend and maybe they should dance only for the sixes and not for fours (laughs),” Chakravarthy said after the collecting the ‘Man of the Match’ award on Monday.

Chakravarthy registered match-winning figures of 3/16 in his four overs as KKR restricted DC to 153/9 in 20 overs.

In reply, Phil Salt led the charge with the bat for KKR in the chase as the opener shamed 68 runs off just 33 deliveries.

In the end, Shreyas Iyer (33 not out; 23b) and Venkatesh Iyer (26 not out; 23b) completed the chase as KKR cantered home in 16.3 overs to improve their net run-rate to 1.096.

Asked to reflect his performance, Chakravarthy said that it was nice to get some wickets after a difficult outing last time against the Punjab Kings, who pulled off a record IPL chase of 263 last week.

“It (the pitch) was holding a bit and you could see as the game progressed, it was turning more. (On the Rishabh Pant wicket and his match-up) The first ball, when the catch was dropped, I think that was a better ball. The ball that got him out, might have gone for six on any other ground. Cricket has become a game of fine margins. The Stubbs one (was my favourite). (On what happens in conversations between him and Narine) Silence (laughs). Mostly when something does not go well for me, he is always there. After conceding so many runs in the last game, it was a tough pill. Everyone, including Abhishek Nayar and Shahrukh Khan spoke to me and that was nice,” he added.
