Punjab Kings completed a record run chase to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders comprehensively by eight wickets in their IPL 2024 match on Wednesday, Chasing a mammoth target of 262, Jonny Bairstow slammed a sensational century while Shashank Singh continued his brilliant run of form as PBKS registered the highest run chase in the history of IPL. The match was also the battle between two Bollywood actors where PBKS owner Preity Zinta had the final laugh over superstar Shah Rukh Khan who owns KKR. Following the historic win, a 10-year-old tweet from another Bollywood star Salman Khan has gone viral and fans on social media were left stunned by the interaction.

Back in 2014, Salman posted on X (formerly Twitter) – “Zinta’s team won kya?”

PBKS responded after the win over KKR – “Match bhi jeete aur dil bhi!”

Highest scores in a T20 run-chase

262/2 – PBKS vs KKR, Kolkata, IPL 2024

262/7 – RCB vs SRH, Bengaluru, IPL 2024

259/4 – South Africa vs West Indies, Centurion, 2023

254/3 – Middlesex vs Surrey, The Oval, T20 Blast 2023

253/8 – Quetta Gladiators vs Multan Sultans, Rawalpindi, PSL 2023

PBKS captain Sam Curran was left stunned by the sensational run chase from his side.

“Very pleasing. Most importantly the win. Cricket is turning into baseball. We have had a few tough weeks. But we hung in there. The way guys train. The confidence and the coaches. The small grounds and the dew. The reviews which might give you an extra ball. We hung in there and managed to chase it down with balls to spare. Pleased for Johnny. What an amazing knock. Shashank Singh has been the find of the tournament for us. Ashutosh as well. Proud of everyone,” he said at the presentation.
