The Narendra Modi-led Central government should go out in the 2029 general elections, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke said in Kochi on Saturday (November 7) as he unleashed a scathing attack on the former over the alleged electoral malpractices and divisive politics.

Addressing a protest named ‘Jantar Mantar @ Kochi’ demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Mr. Dipke stressed that “Modi will go out in 2029.”

“I want to make one thing clear. Any change in government must occur through the democratic electoral system, even if we have to wait till the 2029 elections,” Mr. Dipke said, carrying a tricolour. It was Mr. Dipke’s first public address in Keralam.

“Why is Gyanesh Kumar so important to Modi that he is waging a war against the youth of his own country?” the CJP leader asked, referring to the use of State forces against the protests in Delhi.

“There was a time when you made a joke out of Manmohan Singh, and now it is happening to you. Had the UPA government ordered takedowns as you do, you would never have become the Prime Minister,” he said, adding that he did not endorse any previous regime.

Praising Keralam’s social conditions, he said India would have achieved a developed nation status long ago had other States followed the State’s lead in education and literacy.

Responding to the BJP’s criticism that the CJP is a group of anarchists, Mr. Dipke said the allegation suited the Sangh Parivar well. Mr. Dipke said the Centre’s reaction to the protest that the CJP had planned for October 10 in Delhi, including a security crackdown and mass detentions, only exposed how scared the government was.

Hundreds of youths and civil rights activists took part in the protest meeting. Actor-activist Prakash Raj led a protest march from Marine Drive to Rajendra Maidan ahead of the meet.

CPI(M) leader P. Rajeeve, writer N.S. Madhavan, former MP Sebastian Paul, lawyer Kaleeswaram Raj, and leaders of the SFI, AISF, and AISA were among those who spoke.
